The Chillon mixer consists of a cylindrical tank inside which rotate two helical blades set at opposite angles, which run from one end of the tank to the other. The motor drive is made up of one or two epicycloidal reducers attached directly to the mixing shaft. The connection between electric motor and reducer is by means of belts.
The Chillon single-shaft mixer has exclusive features. The continual improvement in mixing techniques during Armando Chillon’s career has led to the creation of a mixer which produces high-quality concrete in a short time and with ultra-low electricity consumption.

The advantages of the single-shaft mixer compared with other widely-used mixing technologies (e.g. the planetary or the twin-shaft mixer) are so obvious that once you have experienced them it is hard to go back.
A movement
that is almost a dance
The movement created by a single-shaft horizontal mixer is extremely efficient and, you could say, “natural”. It is produced by the rotation of the two helical blades, which move the entire mass in three directions as they go from one end of the tank to the other: vertically, by lifting it; across, by creating a vortex as it falls back and horizontally, by driving it along the axis of rotation from one end of the mixer to the other. The movement of the blades pushes the material forcefully towards the discharge port, enabling the mixer to empty completely in a few seconds.
